This knifecase and knife are a wonderful examples of a traditional form. By the late 1880s, the Lakota were living on the reservation. Riding and performing in a traveling rodeo allowed the warrior a way to make a living in his drastically changed life.
This knife and knivecase are true in form to that which would have been carried by a warrior. Buffalo hide was no longer available so cowhide was used.
