How I wish I knew the story behind this basketry cup and the tray that was  clearly by the same weaver. This Pima cup with small seed beads is very finely woven and the inclusion of peacocks catches my attention. The quality of the basket cannot be overstated.

This basket originally was sold at Sotheby's in their May 1995 sale. It came to Marcy Burns American Indian Arts 2 years later and was accompanied by the tray with the same beads. It has been residing in a terrific basket collection since then. Beautiful and very special.
