This basketry covered bean jar is a remarkable feat of weaving. The weaver has twined a complex design using false embroidery (utilizing multiple colors of dyed-bear grass) around the jar while keeping it tight against the bean jar and maintaining tight stitches. This is a very difficult thing to do and the weaver undoubtedly took the shape of the bean jar as a challenge. This jar has survived the years in excellent condition with minor fading of the aniline-dyed grass.
