This is a fascinating and beautiful basket. The Mono Paiute Indians are renowned for the baskets they wove for the Field Days held at Yosemite in the 1920s. This basket is very well-woven and has been attributed to Nellie or Tina Charlie (among the finest Mono Paiute weavers).
At some point in its history, the basket suffered a vertical break on one end and it has a native repair. There is also a very minor vertical break that has been stabilized.
This is an opportunity to own an exquisite basket by one of the most renowned weavers at a fraction of the price it would bear if it didn't have these breaks.
