The Eastern Woodlands Indians came into contact with Europeans in the late 15th-16th centuries. By the 19th century, they were heavily influenced by the French and English settlers around them.
This MicMac bag is quite early. Few from this period have survived time and in such overall fine condition. There is heavy usage of 1/16th beads and some beads even smaller, an indicator of earlier dating. Note the bifarcated beaded design, an influence from the French nuns.
