Robert Tenorio has long been recognized as one of the premier contemporary Pueblo potters. He learned pottery while at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, beginning in the late 1960s. He uses native clays and firing methods and he has been instrumental in reviving traditional Santo Domingo designs.

This Santo Domingo bowl is very appealing, with deer or antelope prancing around the interior, framed by traditional designs on the exterior. It was purchased directly from Robert Tenorio at Indian Market in Santa Fe in 2000 and has remained in the same collection until now.
