This is a beautiful example of a Navajo Germantown blanket. It is very tightly woven and it has a very nice "handle" (feel to the blanket).  It has the classic tomato-red Germantown wool with traditional serrated-edged triangles in green and peach. If you look closely at the finishing end, you can see that the warp is string and is knotted off, as became the weaving method of choice during this period. The fringe was added to cover the knots and then, in keeping with symmetry, the weaver fringed the start as well.

Note that the original dangles of wool are still there.
