This illustrious polychrome jar from Acoma has elements that characterize Acoma pottery before 1850 and that are rarely seen on jars made after 1880. It has been studied, analyzed, and owned by Jonathan Batkin, Marti Struever, and Dwight Lanmon, all of whom are scholars of Historic pottery. We have detailed analyses by Jonathan Batkin and Dwight Lanmon that accompany the pot.

As is evident from the wear by ladle use on the rim, this was a pot that clearly was traditionally used. The slip and paint are stable and beautiful. Pots such as this rarely come on the market.
