Giving an historical perspective as well as analysis of the art itself, Plains Indian Drawings includes the functions that ledger art served in preserving, recording, and celebrating Plains cultures, most especially that of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Lakota and Kiowa.

Included are many beautiful images from important ledger books, including some that were unstudied and broadly unknown before this exhibition.
