Margot Van Voorhees Carr was born in 1897 and she died in 1985. Margot emigrated to Taxco, Mexico from the United States in 1937. She met Antonio Castillo in 1937 when she visited Taxco and they were divorced in 1948. Margot then established their own Taller and several retail stores (one in Taxco and one in Mexico City). She went on to hire many talented silversmiths and designers. She continued to produce jewelry until 1978.
