Teec Nos Pos is a trading post in the Four Corners area on the Navajo Reservation. Navajo weaving flourished there in the past 100 years with quality textiles being encouraged by the trader. The designs of these rugs show a clear influence of Oriental rug designs, which the trader showed to the weavers, but the Navajo weavers reinterpreted the designs to suit Navajo sensibilities.
This textile is very finely woven and it has survived the years in excellent condition. Please note the palate of natural wools along with purple-dyed wools which are often seen in textiles from this area.
