The specific wools used in this blanket as well as the checkerboard designs, the inclusion of purple-dyed synthetic wool, and the eyedazzler motifs all identify this blanket as being from the late 19th century, right after the Navajo were forced onto Reservation. The weave is very fine, the design is sophisticated and fun, and the blanket is a size that can easily find a place within a home. It has survived the years in terrific condition.
