Modernist jewelry from Taxco, made from the 1930s-1960s, is renowned for its high quality of design, workmanship and silver content. Works by Antonio Pineda are particularly valued. Pineda apprenticed for many years with William Spratling in Spratling’s Taller Las Delicias. He then opened his own taller. He became internationally famous in the 1950s-1960s.
This necklace is a classic example of work he produced during this period. Its design has been variously referred to as the “arrow” or “zig zag” design.
